Fastcap Story Pole Measuring Tape Thinks Outside the Box Before Measuring It

fastcapprocarpentermeasuringtapeThe Fastcap ProCarpenter tape measurer Story Pole version is not your standard tape measurer. In fact, it makes standard measuring tapes look downright quaint! The folks at Fastcap sent this tape to HomeFixated for review, and I was impressed with several features right off the bat: 1) Both the case of the tape and the tape itself have an area to write on with your pencil. This is great for story pole use, but I find the case notepad area super handy for noting measurements as well. If you make enough measurements, pretty soon all those eighths and sixteenths dance around in your head. Next thing you know, you’re measuring once and cutting twice (or more). This tape spares you the multiple cut embarrassment. Once you are done, the notes simply erase right off the tape and/or casing. 2) Speaking of pencils, this tape measurer has a built in pencil sharpener. The sharpener is for standard pencils (not carpenters pencils). I prefer standard pencils most of the time anyway, and having a sharpener immediately accessible is a real time-saver. 3) In addition to the standard locking mechanism found on most tapes, this one also has a brake button just below the measurer where the tape slides out. Pure genius! Since I’m often checking lengths and need the tape to adjust in or out quickly, the brake button makes for very fast adjustments, without the hassle of fully engaging and disengaging the regular tape lock. It’s a great feature, and one you will grow to love! Fastcap’s ProCarpenter line of measuring tapes includes several variations for specialized and everyday uses. More HomeFixated.com reviews to come. Amazon offers the FastCap PSSP25 25 foot Pad Standard Story Pole Measuring Tape for around $10.
