Beneke Juvenile/Adult Toilet Seat Review, Good Enough for Astronauts

beneke-ja-2800-toilet-seatBeneke’s Juvenile / Adult Toilet Seat (it also sells under the “Progressions by Magnolia” name), is more than just a toilet seat. It’s a toilet seat for adults and kids made by the company that makes the official toilet seat for the space shuttle. Talk about a pedigree for your toilet seat! Before we had our daughter I foolishly plotted to have her potty-trained by age 6 months. That didn’t happen, despite several potty training accessories, including a mini-toilet that sits on the floor. Truly ingenious, until you realize that the mini-potty needs to be manually emptied after each use. I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say it left us open to new options. The folks at VintageTub.com
were kind enough to send out a seat for review. Overall, it’s a clever solution for what parents deal with. No adaptor for the seat needed, nothing other than the normal seat to clean, and the kids get to feel like grown-ups by using the real thing. Another pleasant surprise was the soft touch closure. You can drop the main seat or lid, and everything magically glides down to the seat and closes with a soft tap. It’s mesmerizing. I like the feature so much I will never buy another conventional seat that closes with a slam. The only two minor negatives I found were that the kid seat lid doesn’t have the soft touch closure (see, I’m already spoiled). And, lifting the seat up can be a little tricky since the main seat has a lip around it from the juvenile seat. Despite those minor quibbles, I highly recommend it. Make sure you get the proper shape for your toilet (it comes in both standard round and elongated sizes). The

is available for around $50 from Vintage Tub & Bath.
