Hitachi_Angle_GrinderMaybe you went against our advice and became a concrete addict after discovering the Concrete iPhone App – and now your shovels, tools and face are covered in hardened cement. Never fear, the Hitachi Cordless Angle Grinder is here!

Ok – you will NOT want to use this on your face – in fact, you will not want to use this without proper personal protective gear – but you will want to use it. With a wire disc, you can buff off crusties like hard cement and paint from tools, with a flap disc you can sand wood and of course, with various blades, you can chop, slice and spin through tile, metal, blocks of cement and more.

But all that could be said of any angle grinder. What makes this one special? For one, it’s cordless. A pretty rare trait when it comes to grinders. It’s also very lightweight and compact – with the battery it weighs 4.2 pounds and is just under 13” long. This compact design makes it easier to see just what you’re cutting when standing over it and also lets you wiggle the tool into tight spots. The small size doesn’t mean small power though. The angle grinder comes with a high torque motor with a no-load speed of 9,100 RPM and great grip-happy handles that give you comfort and control.

You should be aware that this angle grinder comes without the battery or blades – this is the “bare tool” as they call it. If you’re already a fan of Hitachi products, there’s a good chance you already have a tool that has the detachable Hitachi Lithium Ion, NiCd or NiMH 18V batteries. These are 100% compatible with the angle grinder and can be slapped on easily. The 4 1/2″ blades are available for separate purchase so you can customize your tool and just buy what you need.

Without the cost of the battery and the blade accessories, the Bare-Tool Hitachi G18DLP4 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder (Tool Only, No Battery) is a much cheaper $94.
