Belle_Foret_Copper_Vessel_SinkA vessel sink – the type that is installed on top of a vanity or counter (rather than installed into it) – has a designer feel to it. This style became trendy in the last year or two and has been featured in countless magazine spreads of high-end bathroom renovations and makeovers. So if you like this style, what’s stopping you?

Well – it turns out that vessel sinks have a habit of chipping. Seems that with all the various products we use in the morning and evening – times that happen to be the height of our tiredness – we sometimes don’t raise our hands high enough to crest the sink and we clunk the products we’re using against the rim. No joke! Really!

One solution to this is to install a chip-proof metal vessel sink rather than a porcelain style. A nice one we found is the Belle Foret Copper Vessel Sink. This is particularly ideal if you’re interested in a warm design style complimentary with copper.

This particular sink is made of a 14 gauge copper available in two finishing options of either oil rubbed bronze (as shown) or weathered copper. The bowl of the sink stands 5.75” above the counter with a 15.25” in diameter. The hammered texture gives it something extra – we think it would go along beautifully with a Mediterranean or Asian-inspired décor style.
