My mother-in-law has this crazy toilet that some very creative do-it-yourselfer installed. What this previous owner lacked in plumbing skills, he attempted to make up for in ingenuity. The sad result, an improv high-tank-toilet made from a regular toilet. In other words, he separated the tank from the base, cobbled together a box close to the ceiling, stuck the tank in it, and then routed some very sketchy pipe down to the toilet. All this to save space in a tiny bathroom. If only he know about the Eljer corner toilet. This clever design lets you install the toilet in the corner, and the shelf-top tank is actually triangular for a perfect fit. Available in more than a half dozen colors to suit any bath decor. Prices range from about $330 to $420 from VintageTub.com

About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! 1. HaHA Nice, that how toilets used to be the system was high up on the wall
with a pipe down to the bowl. Hence the old fashed chains. You should have put a photo
up of it, sounds a laugh.
