Who knew that being a bit of a slob could get you your 15 minutes of fame?

If your family could use some help getting your home in order and you don’t mind having the whole thing broadcast on TV, consider applying to a not-yet-revealed HGTV show. Here’s what their website says:

Do you feel like when your room is a mess, your life is a mess? We’re here to help! Is your bedroom secretly a mess? Is your rec room out of control? We want to help!

Award-winning television production company wants to hear from families in need of organizational help at home. Whether it’s your living room, basement, kitchen, or any other area of your house that’s out of control, we want to assist you in getting to the bottom of the mess — for good. If you’re tired of dealing at tackling the chaos alone, we want to hear from you. Plus, you’ll get a great room re-design in the process!

To be considered — or to nominate someone who could use our help — please write to us at organizationalcasting@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Names, ages & occupations of everyone in the household
  • City and state of residence
  • Room/area of the house that is most in need of organizational assistance & brief description of how/why it got that way
  • A few photos: a) of your family b) of the room/area in question c) of your home’s exterior
  • Your best contact phone number/s
  • LA and NYC families can apply!

Just so we’re totally clear, it’s HGTV that is doing this casting, not us (HomeFixated). We have nothing to do with it – we’re just spreading the word to all you organizationally-challenged readers out there.

Good luck!

Jen (but never “Jenn”) Byck, aka the Fix'n Vixen, is a Toronto-based freelance writer and communication consultant who is undoubtedly home fixated (she is also TV fixated, really bad TV fixated and donut fixated). Her approach to home improvement has been rather trial and error, the latter of which is evidenced by the amount of spackle she buys on an annual basis.

  1. i need to know why the HGTV Doesn’t cast in OKlahoma. I lived in a town population of 2,000 rural town. I purchase a home in Sept 11,2001 my Children especially my then severe handicapped son. I Thought that house was everything until it had a major plumbing problem’s that wasn’t told when i first purchased. After my 13 year old son died i didn’t even like the home i used to sleep sometimes in the Garage because it was a place just to lived. THe whole time when my son was living it was at the hospital or College so i never had time to make house a home. In June 2011 i moved out due some horrific things that happen concerns that house so now i leave with a relative. I wish it was a show that was call make my house into a HOME.
