Porter-Cable Palm Nailer, More Fun Than A Machine Gun

Air tools are already fun/dangerous, but the Porter Cable Palm Nailer is one of the greatest air tools yet. If you have ever endured the psychosis-inducing frustration of trying to hammer a nail in a confined space that allows you about 1 inch to swing the hammer head, this palm nailer is for you. I looked at a few different palm nailers and ultimately settled on a Porter-Cable Palm Nailer Kit (model PN650). It had great reviews on Amazon and I have had good luck with Porter Cable for several other tools. The kit includes a hammer tip for hammering things other than nails, and several specialized tips. I had multiple nails to pound in a very tight space and was amazed at the job this tool did. It is comfortable to hold, and you have a surprising degree of control over the nailing by simply applying or removing pressure. It also has no problem getting the nail to the right depth. And, it sounds like a machine gun which makes for neighbor annoying fun! There is very little recoil since it rattles off punches rapidly rather than one big air blast. I purchased mine from a local tool supply called ToolUp, but you can find the Porter-Cable PN650 Palm Nailer Kit for about $120 on Amazon.

About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine!
