What's This? This post is sponsored by The Home Depot. Ryobi recently sent their new Ryobi One+ impact driver kit along with the Ryobi 70 Piece impact bit set to this branch of Home-Fixated. The 70 piece bit set was a great accompaniment to the impact driver. It is easily the most comprehensive and well stocked set in my workshop. It comes in a handy modular case, with the bits sectioned logically and easily accessible. The modular design allows for customization to suit your individual needs. The bits are impact rated and designed to be used with any ¼” hex drive impact driver.

What’s in the Ryobi 70 Piece Impact Bit Set

The kit includes a magnetic bit holder to accommodate the smaller bits in the set, which include Torx, square drive, Phillips and slotted bits. There is also a section of nut drivers in ¼” up through ½” as well as a set of 2” bits for use directly in the driver. These 2” bits feature a TORSION ZONE that is engineered to absorb the high torque and demand that comes with the use of an impact driver. Also included is a set of socket adapters in ¼”, 3/8” and ½”, which is a big deal for me as I use these often and have lost a number of them over the years.

Here’s a quick video from Ryobi discussing their Torsion Zone impact-rated bits:

Here are the specs from Ryobi

• Impact Rated bits for use in impact drivers and drills
• Precision-milled bit tip for enhanced fitment with commonly used fasteners
• 2 in. bits feature a TORSION ZONE that absorbs the high torque from more demanding applications and helps to preserve bit tips
• 1 in. bits are great for use with the included magnetic bit holder
• Modular case for easy, convenient storage
• Green band on bits makes it easier to find on the jobsite and in your toolbox
• Nut drivers for use with hex fasteners
• Includes: (70) Impact Rated Bits in a variety of socket adaptors, nut drivers, Philips bits, and bit holders
The kit is an 80% savings if bits were purchased separately.

Putting the Ryobi Impact Rated Bits to Work

We are actively engaged in raising livestock and vegetables on an 80 acre plot of land. We have an additional remote cabin out back on the edge of the woods and the sheep barn is a long way from the house. Nothing is more frustrating than getting to a spot on the property to do a project or some maintenance only to discover you are missing a critical tool or bit. With this Ryobi 70 piece impact bit set, a lot of the pressure to sort through existing bits and accessories is relieved. Now I just throw the case of bits in with the Ryobi impact driver and I’m assured that I won’t be making a trip back to the shop, at least not for an impact bit. We did some work out in the sheep barn recently where I used a variety of fasteners and I included the bit set in my tool kit. I had everything I needed to complete the job on hand.

Ryobi Impact Bits in the Shop

I also am quite pleased to have one set as my go to when working in the shop. No more hunt and seek for a needed bit, adapter or nut driver. I now have one source for all those items. The quality of the contents of this set are good as well. I’ve had no rounding of the engagement surfaces, the socket adapters fit the sockets perfectly and the nut drivers are precisely sized with no slop or excess tightness on the fasteners.

Conclusions

I feel fortunate to have had this set arrive with the Ryobi One+ 18v Impact Driver kit we reviewed. Though the set is compatible with any ¼” drive impact driver, it is a sharp companion to the Ryobi driver. The case fits conveniently in the carry bag that came with the Ryobi impact driver and provides me with a great solution to be out the door and on the job confident I have the bits I need to do the job. I’m also amazed at the price. I recently bought a 3 piece socket adapter set from another company for just under half of the retail price for this set. It’s a very impressive set at this price point. Available from the Home Depot for $19.97 (or even less if you luck out with a special buy), with convenient options for home delivery, curbside or in-store pickup.

About Stephen

Stephen hails from a family of DIY’ers, the delusion that no job is too big or complex to tackle on your own originally instilled by his father and further reinforced by his brothers, who are equally afflicted. His first real project was the complete restoration of an old farmhouse in Upstate NY, which was followed by another, setting the pattern. After 40 years in the wine and spirits business (sounds far more glamorous than the reality) he recently retired to an 80 acre sheep farm, where he will continue to farm until his retirement savings are exhausted. As a co-owner of 30 something bicycles (a devotee of the N+ 1 theory of bicycle requirements, where N= the current number owned), he is typically found tinkering on his latest build or out testing said results. Stephen spends his spare time (face it, all of his time) drinking good coffee, currying homegrown produce or fixing whatever is currently non-operational. He also spends whatever time he can with an ever growing extended family. When his wife retired they planned to do as much cycle touring as their legs will allow, but the sheep are pretty demanding.
