scraperite-plastic-razor-bladesIf you want to shave facial hair, don’t try the ScrapeRite Plastic Razor Blades! They are designed for scraping just about everything but hair. The ScrapeRite blades are made from non-metal material such as polycarbonate and acrylic. They come in three different color coded compositions:

  • Orange – The softest compound for general purpose use.
  • Blue – Medium compound, pliable yet durable.
  • Yellow – The hardest compound for use on very flat and hard surfaces.

I always have to resist the urge to use razor blades to scrape paint off windows (ever since I realized how much damage you can do to the glass by doing so). Luckily, ScrapeRite looks like they solved this problem. My windows are going to be very happy. ScrapeRite recommends using water or a solvent to help remove whatever it is you’re scraping. Since the blades are plastic, you never need to worry about rust. They also suggest wiping the blade clean after each stroke to avoid a build-up that can still scratch surfaces. And since they’re designed for scraping and not cutting, there’s less risk of severing finger while you’re trying to get that price tag sticker off your gift for Aunt Edna. Thanks to the great site CoolTools for tipping us off to these. Save your fingers and prevent unsightly rusted blades. A pack of Five ScrapeRite Blades
(10 edges) and the holder run just $6 at West Marine.

About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! For his complete profile, please visit our About page. Really, it's worth it.
