If you’re reading this article, then we’d wager there’s about a 99% chance you love tools. Whether it’s a few choice hand tools passed down from a parent or grandparent, or a collection of the latest and greatest cordless beasts, we all share a weak spot for tools. They make our lives easier, they change some jobs from impossible to possible, they make us more efficient, and they unleash our creativity to not just build, but to express and create. If you’re curious about tools and the creative tradespeople, makers, celebrities and DIY’ers that use them, we have an excellent podcast to recommend – Tool Crave.

Timothy Dahl, host of the Tool Crave podcast brandishing a Bosch recip saw (and a man-bun) back in the corded days.

The Tool Crave podcast was started by my good friend Timothy Dahl. Our paths crossed many years ago as we often attended the same trade shows and tool company media events. Timothy has a rockstar resumé that includes current status as the executive editor at Charles & Hudson and Built by Kids. And, he is the former editor at Popular Mechanics, Lifehacker, and This Old House. Timothy also rocked a mean man-bun, and is rumored to have once once sported a mullet. I cannot confirm nor deny this rumor.

Although the podcast is relatively new at the time of this writing, it already has an intriguing lineup of podcasts in its library. Timothy chats with uber-maker Jimmy Diresta, explores chainsaw carving with Griffon Ramsey, talks smart home tech with Dan Diclerico, attempts to get a straight answer out of the dynamic duo of Dan and Eric from Tools in Action, and even talks media, tools, real estate and the origins of Home Fixated with yours truly. About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! For his complete profile, please visit our About page. Really, it's worth it.
