It’s that time of year again – late fall. To promote their impressive line of LXT X2 yard maintenance tools, Makita announced their Rule the Outdoors campaign, which runs for the entire fourth quarter of this year. If you win, you’ll get a custom-painted “Makita Edition” Can-Am Defender utility vehicle, upgraded with Toyo off-road tires, brush guards, and a light bar. You’ll also get a tool kit from Makita, which includes their new (and AWESOME) LXT X2 chainsaw, blower, and string trimmer. The cherry on top of this whole deal? A Kicker Bluetooth speaker – presumably so you can blast “Ride of the Valkries” as you rule your outdoors.
Milwaukee Introduces Cordless 9” Cut Off Saw
Milwaukee continues the roll-out of its M18 FUEL™ line of cordless tools with the introduction of their 9” Cut-Off Saw w/ ONE-KEY™. Bosch Wants You to Break Up

Bosch’s “Break up 2 Trade Up” contest is happening now through November 21. Bosch is gunning for your business here, and wants you to break up with your current “color” of tool i.e. Milwaukee red or DEWALT yellow. Film a short video explaining why the spark is gone from your current tool relationship, post it to Instagram, and tag @BoschToolsNA and include the hashtag #TRADEUPCONTEST. iQ’s New Cyclonic Dust Extractor
Construction-focused vacuum cleaners are a near-necessity on most job sites. Sometimes though, they don’t have the capacity to handle big jobs. The iQ426HEPA, from IQ tools, promises to serve the needs of heavy users. It can pick up 50 lbs in 30 seconds flat, which is probably much quicker than a parent can pick up their 4-year-old. At over 190 CFM of air capacity, it can easily handle the requirements of 7” grinders. PLUS, with HEPA filtration, it keeps the user protected.
Makita Announces 40V XGT Tools
Makita, in what was probably a bid to monopolize Tool News Nirvana, recently announced their upcoming XGT line of tools. This will be a standalone, 40V system that promises to deliver added power for higher-demand applications. We’ve seen the tool industry start to expand a bit recently, with the major players starting to look beyond cordless tools and more toward cordless equipment. Given Makita’s 15 years of experience with cordless tools, we’re expecting the XGT line to be super powerful, high-quality, and innovative. These tools will launch in Japan first, followed by a US launch in late 2020. Look for updates right here on Tool News Nirvana.
DeWalt Launches Pole Saw
This summer, DeWalt launched the DCPS620 20V cordless pole saw. This product incorporates a host of innovative features, including an extendable shaft for up to a 15’ reach, a metal bucking strip for added wood grip and leverage, a branch hook for clearance purposes, and an automatic chain oiling system. The DCPS620 comes in a kit (DCPS620M1) with battery + charger, and also as a bare tool (DCPS620B). While it comes standard with a perfectly capable 8” bar, it can also take a 10” bar as well for those bigger jobs. The saw is one of over 200 tools currently in DEWALT’s 20V MAX cordless system.
