makita rule the outdoors contest

It’s that time of year again – late fall. Perhaps the first winter storm or two has already rolled through, leaving your property looking like…well…a property that wouldn’t be the cover model in this month’s issue of Better Homes and Gardens. You’ll need a bunch of tools to get that thing cleaned up, and maybe even a vehicle. “But, I don’t own any of those things” you’ll say. Well….fear not, Nirvananaut – Makita’s got you covered! That’s right – through the end of 2019, Makita is running their Rule The Outdoors promotion. The GRAND prize is a brand new Can-Am utility vehicle, outfitted with a few choice Makita LXT X2 yard tools and upgraded with some choice parts and accessories. More details below. Also in this edition of Tool News Nirvana, we’ll check out Milwaukee’s new 9” cutoff saw, a Bosch trade-in deal, a cyclonic dust extractor from IQ, Makita’s new 40V XGT tools, and DeWalt’s new 20V cordless pole saw. Let’s get to it!

Makita Invites You (Yes, YOU) to Rule The Outdoors

To promote their impressive line of LXT X2 yard maintenance tools, Makita announced their Rule the Outdoors campaign, which runs for the entire fourth quarter of this year. If you win, you’ll get a custom-painted “Makita Edition” Can-Am Defender utility vehicle, upgraded with Toyo off-road tires, brush guards, and a light bar. You’ll also get a tool kit from Makita, which includes their new (and AWESOME) LXT X2 chainsaw, blower, and string trimmer. The cherry on top of this whole deal? A Kicker Bluetooth speaker – presumably so you can blast “Ride of the Valkries” as you rule your outdoors.

Milwaukee continues the roll-out of its M18 FUEL™ line of cordless tools with the introduction of their 9” Cut-Off Saw w/ ONE-KEY™. This saw delivers the power needed to cut reinforced concrete without the headaches of traditionally gas-powered tools. It also shares three exclusive Milwaukee innovations with other tools in the line – a POWERSTATE™ brushless motor, REDLITHIUM™ battery packs, and REDLINK PLUS™ intelligence. So, while your father-in-law might give you grief for using “those newfangled batteries,” you can be all done with your cutting job while he’s still cleaning the carburetor on his ol’ trusty gas-powered machine. Construction-focused vacuum cleaners are a near-necessity on most job sites. Sometimes though, they don’t have the capacity to handle big jobs. The iQ426HEPA, from IQ tools, promises to serve the needs of heavy users. It can pick up 50 lbs in 30 seconds flat, which is probably much quicker than a parent can pick up their 4-year-old. At over 190 CFM of air capacity, it can easily handle the requirements of 7” grinders. PLUS, with HEPA filtration, it keeps the user protected.
