Our sponsor Ohio Power Tool has some deal-icious tool promos this month. Get free shipping on Bosch, Milwaukee & Ridgid with the mystically-named Coupon Code: AUGUST. They’ve also got a bonus pack offer: Free Impact, Start-up Kit & Extended Warranty on select Ingersoll Rand Air Compressors. Ohio Power Tool is now also carrying some of the hot new Milwaukee Grinders. Some restrictions apply on the deals, so please visit Ohio Power Tool for details.

Ohio Tool Racing
In more news from our sponsor Ohio Power Tool, Ohio Tool Racing Championships are less than 2 weeks away on Saturday, August 20th. Bosch Tools is the main event sponsor with over $2500 in prizes for the winning racers. The races are part of a larger event, Columbus Maker Fest, which will feature over 30 art/maker vendors, food trucks, refreshments, live band and a full day of interactive shop demos. It’s like a renaissance fair, but involving more nerds, power tools and fewer bustiers and corsets (bummer!) Still sounds like a great time to us! The event will be held at the Columbus Idea Foundry, which will also mark the opening of its new 10,000 sq ft “Clean Wing” for a grand total of 20,000 sq ft of tinkerers’ paradise. We’re not sure what a clean wing is, maybe it’s the area where no alcohol is allowed? Or maybe you have to wear one of those white Tyvek suits and a face shield? Or maybe only OCD people can come in and clean non-stop? Anyway, it’s just $25 to enter your vehicle, which includes the racing fee and access to build sessions. And if you just like to watch, spectating is FREE! Get all the deets about the rules and racing via ToolRaces.com.

bosch d-tect 150New Bosch Wallscanner D-tect™150
Not content to let the highway patrol and military have all the fun with radar tech, Bosch scores an industry first with the use of patented (don’t even think about stealing it) Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) Radar Technology. Bosch says their new Bosch D-tect 150 Wall/Floor scanner is “the only scanner in the marketplace that can display material type, depth & relative width information of ferrous and non-ferrous metal, non-metal objects (i.e. wooden studs and plastic pipes) and live AC wires in concrete, wet concrete, deep concrete, in-floor heating, drywall, metal and signal view. It can even measure up to a depth of 6″ in cured concrete.” The D-tect 150 sports a sexy illuminated backlit LCD display to show the detection depth, material type, and the center and edges of an object. The Bosch D-tect 150 Wall/Floor Scanner has an adjustable sound indicator and a LED light that has three detection modes – green (no object detected in sensor area – grab your Sawzall baby!), red (object detected in the sensor area – may we recommend another part of the wall to drill into?) and red flashing (live wire detected in the sensor area – put down the demolition tools and step away from the wall).

If you’re a homeowner, the $800 price tag makes this the Lamborghini of all stud finders. If you’re a contractor where drilling in the wrong place can set you back big-time, you can pick up the Bosch D-Tect 150 via our sponsor at Ohio Power Tool.

Bosch DareDevil Contest Continues
Also from Bosch, their latest DareDevil promo. “You may not laugh in the face of gravity every day like Mike here, but we bet you have a wild streak. Show us how you work hard on the jobsite, or have fun off the job. You could win serious prizes.” Weekly items include Bosch cordless drill, Daredevil spade bits and Blaklader work pants. The Grand Prize package includes a Bosch circular saw, Daredevil saw blades and a Mike Metzger-autographed Weatherguard truck box. Sweet!

About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! For his complete profile, please visit our About page. Really, it's worth it.
