Leatherman’s website claims that if the Serac S2 Clip Flashlight “was any stronger, you’d blind aliens.” Umm, what? I’m trying to think for whom this would be a major selling point and I’m coming up a bit blank. Like, who would *almost* want to blind aliens? You either want to blind them entirely or not at all. Or, you know, you think the whole alien thing is a little nutty to begin with.
Kooky copywriting aside, there’s lots to like about this trusty flashlight. It’s compact, runs off of just one AAA battery and gives off a surprising blast of light (on high, it churns out 35 Lumens). I particularly like that it comes with a clip that you can attach to the brim of your hat, making it a must-have tool to bring with you when you’re crawling around under the house or just fiddling with plumbing, fixtures or projects in a spot that doesn’t get – but could use – a lot of light. While it won’t replace our Petzl Headlamp, it is a great alternative.
Leatherman’s quest for quality is known to many home improvers, and this light doesn’t fail the Leatherman name. It’s water resistant, corrosion resistant, humidity resistant, shock resistant … and err … E.T. resistant. Almost. Or maybe. Whatever.
The Leatherman Serac 2-LED Flashlight is available at a number of online retailers for roughly $35.
