When was the last time you went to the store and picked up a bucket of lube? Be honest. Well I bought mine a couple months ago and the lube is super handy! I use it for wire pulling of course. Sometimes, actually all the time, pulling wire is not as easy as one might hope at the outset of a project. I have found myself in a couple situations where I was running wire in conduit, or in some cases out of conduit, with minimal clearance. Adding some lube to the Romex has made wire pulls possible that I do not think would have worked without it. When in doubt, use lots of lube! I use Ideal’s Clear Glide which I picked up at my local Home Depot. Details can be found at Ideal.
About Marc Lyman
Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! It really does work wonders, I had a 1 inch conduit and a pull string and we kept loosing the cable at the bend with someone pushing/pulling the cable also. With the Lube I was able to get the cable through the conduit with no more problems. I might even be able to get one more through there which I wouldn’t have thought possible before, but it made it very easy.
