It’s time for another Tool News Nirvana – where tool and supply companies, hardware stores, and others in the home reno industry send us press releases and we play God deciding which ones to talk about. And let me tell you, playing God feels pretty great – I can totally see why so many people like to do it. The POWER …. it’s SURGING … from my FINGERTIPS. YES. YESSSS! YEEESSSSSSS! Ahem. Anyway, we have some fun stuff for you – a giveaway from KILZ, a nice free shipping discount coupon from Ohio Power Tool, and sneak peeks at new products from Milwaukee and Dremel.
‘KILZ’ Some Time (And Maybe Win A Prize) on Facebook
When you’re done enjoying how fat certain people from high school have become and tired of annoying everyone with your FarmVille / FrontierVille / CityVille updates, stroll on over to KILZ’s new Facebook page. From now until December 17th, KILZ will be doing a daily draw among all the people who “Like” them. And we don’t mean “like” them, like how I ‘like’ sitting around in my underwear while drinking margaritas on a Tuesday afternoon, but “Like” them, as in pressing that little thumbs-up button on their page. The prize is a $100 gift card at your local home improvement store. Even better, they’re doing a grand prize draw on the 17th, and one lucky “liker” will win a $2000 mini room makeover from KILZ. That’s almost as good as a Tequila Tuesday! Almost.
A Very Merry Coupon From Ohio Power Tool
We have more good news to share, this time from Ohio Power Tool. This month if you’re buying Bosch or Milwaukee products from the site, shipping is FREE with the coupon “HOLIDAYS”. The fine print? Orders need to be over $99, under 75lbs, and within the continental US to qualify.
One such qualifier is the brand-spanking new Milwaukee M12 Thermal Imaging Camera. Maybe if you’ve been good (like, really, really, really good – on sale, it’s $2500), you can find this in your stocking this Christmas:
Milwaukee Keeps Charging Ahead
Speaking of Milwaukee – they just keep coming out with new gadgetry, don’t they? We have one more you that we think fans of the company’s cordless power tools are really going to like: The Milwaukee M12 & M18 Multi-Voltage Charger. The new Energy Star rated unit will charge all M18 and M12 LITHIUM-ION batteries sequentially, allowing the user to put both packs on the charger at the same time. No more of that this-charger-for-this-one and that-charger-for-that-one business! The unit will charge M18 or M12 compact batteries in 30 minutes and extended capacity (XC) batteries in 60 minutes. But it’s not in stores yet, padres – you’ll have to wait until March 2012 before getting your hands on it. Milwaukee plans to include the M12 & M18 Multi-Voltage Charger with select M18 tools, but also plans to sell the charger separately.
Dremel: Discs and Blades and Shields – oh my!
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought Dremel‘s latest offerings were for the prop table of the next season of Game of Thrones. Alas, we are not talking about medieval weapons but neato stuff for your woodshop:
- New EZ Lock Sanding Discs are out including the EZ411SA, EZ412SA and EZ413SA models. Dremel’s EZ Lock system has become popular because it eliminates the need for a screw and screwdriver to change accessories; rather, users just pull, twist and release. It’s also simple to spell – EZ. Heh. Anyhoo! These particular sanding discs are designed to last twice as long and remove twice as much material as their non-EZ Lock counterparts. Dremel promises to deliver rotary tool sanding discs that provide a true finish – all for the price of $4.99 USD . - You’ve heard about the Dremel Multi-Max™ MM20 and MM40 on this site before (in fact, the MM20 was our November HomeFixated monthly giveaway prize!) – now there are some new accessories out for it. The MM480 Wood Flush Cut Blade and the MM482 Wood/Metal Flush Cut Blade both feature “an increased blade length and width, allowing users to cut through materials speedily and with ease. Their sturdy design gives these large blades increased durability and both are capable of plunge cuts up to 1-5/8 inches in depth.” If that makes sense to you and is something you want, you can get your hot little hands on it – er, wait, it’s a blade, so be careful where you put those hands! – for just $17.99 and $18.99 respectively. There’s also the MM452 BiM Segmented Saw Blade, which eats through wood and metal, and it can be used with any of Dremel’s oscillating tools. It’s available for a cool $21.99.
- Finally, we’ve got a shield to keep you safe from all the flying bits you might create with these discs and blades. The A550 Shield Rotary Tool Attachment fits onto your Dremel rotary tools and “redirects flying debris and sparks while cutting, sanding, grinding or polishing materials – increasing the comfort level with which DIYers and professionals alike use Dremel rotary tools.” You betcha – I, personally, am much less of a spaz when sparks and debris aren’t flying at me. The shield is a deal for $14.99.
