We recently were offered the opportunity to review the Worx Pegasus Folding Work Table and Sawhorse. Worx is a line of power tools and lawn and garden equipment distributed by Positec (short of “positive technology”) Tool Corporation. The Pegasus Folding Work Table is a multipurpose workbench/table/sawhorse. Rugged and versatile enough for contractors to take on location, yet perfect for crafters and DIY-ers like myself. One of the things I really like about the Pegasus is how lightweight and portable it is.
The Worx Pegasus – Save Money on Couple’s Counseling
We’ve been looking for a solution to our lack-of-space-need-for-work-space problem. The apartment I live in has an extra room. Perhaps the biggest arguments between my partner and myself over the past four years has been the particulars of just how to use that space. Having six siblings, I envision the room as a guest room, an open invitation to brothers, sisters, daughter, nieces and nephews to visit the Rocky Mountain town we live in. However, as a DIYer, I need the space to double as a workshop, a place to store tools, crafting supplies and an actual place to make jewelry, tables and sew.
Outdoor Gear Storage or Guest Room
My partner, Bob, on the other hand likes to store his rugged outdoor equipment, tents, skis, camping and hunting gear. Bob would also like to have a work space for the occasional carpentry, lamp building and household repairs. The one thing we agree on is we both require an area to work on our Home Fixated type projects. Consensus is always good! The room is still a work in progress. For instance, my next step is to add style, make it a cozy place for guests and an inviting place to create new projects. Everything in good time.
Easy to Store
The first thing I did when I received the Worx Pegasus in the mail is remove it from the box. Folded up, the Pegasus measures 6” thick x 27” wide x 35” tall. At 6” thick, the table fit perfectly in the space I designated to store it when not in use. As you can see, the work table is hardly noticed when stowed away in the corner between dresser and wall.
Set Up
The next thing I did was set the table up. It was super easy and required one simple move. Break down is just as easy. Unlike some of the other portable workbench’s on the market Pegasus has a no pinch safety design. I watched a Youtube comparison review between the Worx Pegasus and another brand’s model. The first thing the reviewer did was pinch his fingers as he was trying to set up the other model. He was not happy, it looked really painful, thus one of the selling points in his review was the Worx Pegasus no pinch safety design.
Carpentry
Next I tried to envision what purpose/es Worx Pegasus Folding Work Table could fill in my DIY toolbox so to speak. I make and sell suitcase tables for my eco-friendly boutique and needed a workbench with clamps to saw spindles that I buy at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I like to use earth friendly recycled spindles as opposed to the prefabricated table legs which can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot.
Worx Quick Clamps and Clamp Dogs
It took me a minute to figure out that the two quick clamps that come with Pegasus work table can be used in a variety of different ways. One way is to slide the ultra sturdy clamps into the built in aluminum channels and use them alone or in combination with 3/4” clamp dogs (the Worx Pegasus comes with 4). Youtube’s John Taylor does an excellent review which includes the various ways quick clamps and clamp dogs can be used with Pegasus.

For my purpose however, it made more sense to remove quick clamps from the aluminum chamber and clamp tapered spindles horizontally.
We also discovered we could use one quick clamp in the chamber and one quick clamp horizontally as seen below. This method was more secure.
Sew What?
I wanted to see if it made sense to use the Pegasus for sewing and/or jewelry making. Pegasus proved to be an excellent sewing table. It’s 300 lb load capacity could easily handle my 35 lb sewing machine. I took full advantage of built in compartments for sewing tools like straight pins, scissors, needles and thread and at a 32” height I could pull a stool up to the Pegasus and sit and operate my Singer Sewing machine. Rulers built into the Worx Pegasus Folding Work Table surface is a handy feature for sewing and crafting as well. The 31” x 25” table top space was more than enough for my sewing needs.

Coordinates with Other Worx Products
The Worx Pegasus coordinates with the Worx Clamping Sawhorses and Worx Sidekick too. They are the same working height, feature the same joiners and attachment points to make larger projects easier to tackle, or to create a custom workspace that can be disassembled and stored in limited space. The joiners are designed to prevent slippage during use. If you’re looking for a perfect match or additional security, we recommend pairing up two of the same model tables.
If you are in the market for a portable workbench/work table, I recommend you watch the numerous comparison reviews available on Youtube. I found this quite helpful in understanding the various features on different models/brands available on the market today.
The Worx Pegasus Folding Work Table is perfect for my needs, especially with regard to limited space and its versatility. Not only is it a great portable work space for carpentry projects and DIY projects, I have discovered that it serves perfectly as a portable sewing and crafting table as well! You can buy one now for around $100 from Worx:
