Some people think geckos are cute. We can probably blame Geico and their well-mannered gecko mascot for that. The truth is, geckos freak me out a bit. In a recent trip down south, I stayed in a home that was gecko-central. Fidgety, brown, wall and ceiling-climbing lizards in the bedroom and bathroom? NO, THANK YOU.
I had to attempt to put my gecko-prejudices aside when I came across the Black & Decker Gecko Grip Level with Accu Mark. I’m glad I did, because it’s a pretty handy tool!
While “gecko grip” may be overstating the power of the grip of the Black & Decker level (geckos – thank Jebus – actually stay on the wall by their own accord and aren’t likely to fall off onto your bed), the level certainly doesn’t slide or budge when you’re holding it with one hand and attempting to make a mark on your wall with the other. The rubber grips also mean the level won’t skid or make unintentional marks while you’re pressing or adjusting it along a wall. The “accu marks” (and there are two) are simple slides that let you mark specific points on the level. This is helpful should you want to use the level to measure an object (like the width of a picture) and easily bring or see that measurement on the wall. As for the level component – they are simple bubble-in-a-vial style (and there are three of them in this one!).
