King Arthur’s Tools Lancelot 4″ Chain Carver Wheel for Angle Grinders, Lasers, and, of course, a Batarang – who wouldn’t delight to discover any of these holiday gifts? Find these conversation-starters and lots of slightly more conventional gear in PTR’s list.

Stuart, the force behind ToolGuyd once told me how many screwdriver sets he has. It’s a protected trade secret, but I can tell you the number of tools is in the six figures. So, when ToolGuyd puts out a gift guide for the maker or hobbyist in your life, you should most definitely take notice and check it out.

Tools in Action took time out from their usual tool video reviews and hijinks to share their suggestions for great gifts for 2012. Reasonably priced and practical, check out their list and then subscribe to their YouTube channel.

Last, but certainly not least, ToolSkool has everything from a Thingamejig (no really, that’s what it’s called, it’s a cool scribing tool), to Rockler’s toy hobby kits (a much better way to introduce your kids to tools than handing them a circular saw). Geeks to tradespeople will love this list.

Happy Cyber Monday shopping, and a happy holiday season to all!

About Marc Lyman

Marc grew up under a brave single mom who "encouraged" home improvement on the family home. Early toddler gifts included a tool set, and even a cordless Bosch drill when cordless drills first came out. In grade school (give or take a few years), Marc's mom said, "We need to cut down some trees. . . . here's a chainsaw." A father figure also involved Marc in many home improvement projects, including a summer of home remodeling in Palo Alto, CA. Toss in some Obsessive Compulsive personality traits researching everything home improvement related. The end result: a genetically pre-disposed, socially sculpted home improvement machine! For his complete profile, please visit our About page. Really, it's worth it.

  1. I wanna win the chisels! My brother-in-law finally gave me a gift list I can work with this year and he wants chisels! That would be such a better gift than the 6 pack of beer I usually get him!
