Summer project season is officially underway, and we’re up to our elbows in projects here at Tool News Nirvana. While the projects themselves change on a seemingly daily basis, there’s always one constant – the need to work safely. In this installment of T.N.N., we’ll hear about some new insulated tools and safety glasses from Klein, a ladder from Murphy with a unique marketing campaign, innovative goggles from Radians, and a helmet from Pyramex.
Klein’s Insulated Tool Kit
Are you worried about your tools getting cold? A Ladder and a Luchador Wrestler Walk Into a Bar…
An interesting video rolled across our newsdesk recently, and quite honestly it’s one of the most memorable tool ads we’ve seen in a while. Murphy Ladder, the manufacturer of a great little foldable ladder, hired a creative agency, Harmon Brothers, to work on their latest ad. Harmon, in turn, created the Ladder Luchador character, to demonstrate the strength and maneuverability of the product. I don’t really know how else to describe it, but it just…kind of…works. It’s available now from Murphy.
Radians LPX IQuity Goggle
Since eye protection is so important, we’ll feature it twice. The new LPX IQuity goggle features a rubber gasket that forms a complete seal around the user’s face, for the ultimate in scratch and splash prevention. The “IQuity” in the name is a reference to the intelligent anti-fog and anti-scratch coating, which keeps your vision unobstructed. We could see these working well for dusty, dirty demolition jobs, as they keep your eyes completely sealed from anything in the air. They’re available now.
A New Helmet from Pyramex
One of the biggest trends in safety headwear today is the transition to climbing-style helmets from the older style plastic hard hats. The Pyramex Ridgeline is a prime example of this. Overall, these types of helmets tend to be lighter, more comfortable, and lower profile than their predecessors. Most importantly, they have the added advantage of a full 4-point chin strap, which prevents the helmet from falling off of your head in the event of an impact.
