HomeFixated is currently stuck at home for the time being. As you might’ve guessed from our name, that’s not entirely a bad thing. One benefit of working from home? Snacks. So many snacks. One detriment? We’re beginning to notice all of the tiny little imperfections in our drywall, and the random squeaks and groans that our front door makes, and slow leak in the toilet tank. The project list has grown significantly, and so has our wish-list of new tools. In this installment of Tool News Nirvana, we’ll discuss great new products from Metabo, Milwaukee, DEWALT, and WORX. Metabo HPT Rebar Bender/Cutter
If you’ve got a large job coming up involving the placement of lots of rebar, Metabo HPT has a great tool for you. The Metabo HPT VB3616DA is their new cordless rebar bender/cutter. It uses Metabo HPT’s unique MultiVolt system – the tool can be powered either by a 36V battery or by a 120V AC adapter. It should allow the process of building rebar structures to be easier and more ergonomic for users.

An 8” Metal Cutting Circular Saw From Milwaukee
The model #2982-21 Metal Cutting Circular saw has a cut capacity of 2-9/16”. This means it can easily handle up to 1” steel plate or 2” steel pipe. An expansion to the quickly growing M18 battery platform, it features a POWERSTATE™ Brushless Motor and REDLINK PLUS™ Intelligent hardware/software. Look for it in April 2020.
DEWALT’s POWER DETECT™ Adjusts Power Output Automatically
The engineers at DEWALT have been working hard on the development of what we think is a worthwhile electronics upgrade. POWER DETECT™ is a technology that allows an enabled tool to identify the specific battery that the tool is paired with and adjust power output accordingly. In essence, the new tools would automatically pull more power from larger batteries, and less power from smaller batteries. Look for POWER DETECT™ on the DCS574 circular saw, the DCS368 reciprocating saw, the DCG415 grinder, and the DCD998 hammer drill.
WORX Has A New Compact Cordless Vacuum
The newly-released WORX WX030L 20V cordless vacuum promises to make quick work of cleaning up household messes. Messes like the ones the kids will inevitably make as they’re stuck at home with you. The included PowerShare battery is compatible with other WORX products such as lawn tools and power tools – so that you’re able to make a mess (but then clean it up, too). It’s available now from WORX.
