Maybe my sense of humor is a bit off base, but when I first saw Tree Faces on Yardiac, I imagined how someone would react if the trees in their yard were unexpectedly smiling back at them and how hilarious it would be to secretly arrange it.
Think about it – you’re putzing around the place, washing dishes, doing whatever when out of the corner of your eye you think you see something. You look more closely out the window and the tree that’s been in your yard longer than you’ve had the house has … a face! Is there a part of you that – for just a second – might actually believe your tree has come to life? Blame my adoration for Lord of the Rings, an overactive imagination or my chronic drug problem, but, yah, a part of me would freak out a little.
If you have a decent relationship with a neighbor or nearby friend, consider picking up a tree face for a harmless prank (or do it in your own yard and spook the ones you love). The install won’t hurt the tree and the face parts are made with all-weather garden stone, so they won’t rust or mold if they’re out there for a while. You never have to tell them it was you!
The Tree Faces, like the Mr. Mapleshade Tree Face, retail between $15 and $30 at Yardiac.
