Have little faith in the establishment? Wonder if your vote really counted? Not feeling much democratic love? Yes, we’re all disappointed in American Idol and Dancing With the Stars. But now, HGTV hopes to alleviate some of these sorrows by giving you something else to vote on – the home design choices of real homeowners. Plus, there’s a way for you to get in on the action beyond your simple vote!
In every half-hour episode of HGTV’s Run My Makeover, “homeowners allow a room in their home to be transformed according to the whims of online users, who vote on everything from flooring to fixtures, cabinets to cooktops and moldings to mantelpieces. When the votes are tallied, it’s up to our hosts, with a little help from the homeowners, to pull the elements together into one amazing room.” From now until May 2nd, people are invited to go to the show’s website and start sharing their opinions. Sounds like power that could be used for good or evil. Which will you choose?
There are a few ways you can get involved in the show:
- Apply to be featured homeowner
- Vote on the design elements you want featured homeowners to receive. Not only will you have your say, but you’ll also be entered into draws to win yourself some cool prizes.
You can also watch homeowners shamelessly plea for help with their kitchens, baths, basements and more, all with a hint of fear as to what America will choose for them. Check out the HGTV videos here.
The series will air on HGTV, starting this July.
As usual, HomeFixated has nothing to do with the selection of contestants for the show. If you send us your submission videos instead of directing them to HGTV producers, we reserve the right to turn them into Auto-Tune viral sensations on YouTube. Good luck!
