Remember that show Kids Say The Darndest Things that was hosted by Art Linkletter (and later, Bill Cosby)? When my sister was little, she could have easily been featured on it. When my mom would make us toast, she’d always ask, “can I flush it?” (press the toaster lever down to lower the bread.) And when she wanted to hang her coat or hat? She’d put them on a “hooker” (a hook.)
Well, I found some dandy hookers, er, hooks on Etsy that really are the darndest things – they’re made of old silverware!
JJEvensenArt from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, has a way with bending, molding and taming silverware that they turn your typical fork or spoon into functional artwork. After working the silverware into a design (some look like fingers giving the peace sign, some look like wiggly waves, others have motivational words stamped into them), they bend the handles up and drills holes into them so you can then mount them to your wall. The Etsy shop is pretty substantial, so we suggest checking it out yourself to see all the options available.
Use these hooks in your entryway or bedrooms for holding coats, scarfs or hats, place them in your kitchen to hang potholders or oven mitts, or mount them in your bathroom to hold towels. It’s your choice! Racks and shelves are also available should you want a complete row of hardy hookers, er, hooks!
Take a look at JJEvensenArt on Etsy today. Prices range from $3 for a single hook to $150 for a wholesale lot of 27.
