So the first thing I noticed with the newly released Skil Li Ion Combo Kit, is it’s really, really red! It’s like Ferrari took over the Skil brand. But it’s not just spicy red good looks that make these tools. Lithium Ion technology is all the rage, and Skil isn’t letting the Li Ion race car pass their pit crew without a quick tune-up. Li Ion is lighter weight and has a more compact design than the now scorned Ni-Cd power tools of yesteryear. The included 2 speed Drill/Driver in the combo sports a cavernous one-half inch chuck to accept larger diameter bits with ease. It also includes removable bit storage, handy built-in level and side-assist handle. The kit is rounded out with a 5 3/8″ Skilsaw, a reciprocating saw, and a pivoting head flashpoint. All in all, pretty essential tools around the house, or possibly on pit row. You can even upgrade your SKIL Ni-Cd tools to the more efficient lithium ion battery system, sparing you the pain of throwing away old SKIL 18 Volt Ni-Cd tools unnecessarily. Who ever wants to throw away otherwise good tools? The new batteries will give owners a lighter tool and more consistent power throughout the cycle, plus SKIL lithium ion batteries last up to four times longer than Ni-Cd batteries and hold a charge for up to 18 months (vs. about three months for Ni-Cds). The Skil 4 Piece Li Ion Combo Kit
retails for a reasonable $259 from your preferred Skil dealer.
