USEFUL: Zircon CF12 Circuit Breaker Finder

Jen September 11, 2009 Leave a Comment

Zircon_CF12_Circuit_Breaker_FinderThere’s a good chance that the labelling on your circuit breaker panel is less than stellar. Some people arrive into their new home to see it completely blank. Mine, on the other hand, looks like this:

1 – Lights
2 – Lights
3 – Lights
4 – Lights
5 – Kitchen
6 – Kitchen

… and so on.

Great. So helpful. Circuit breaker panel labels like the example above are about as useful as a Hills castmate on Jeopardy or a microphone at an Ashley Simpson concert (have a good “as useful as a” comparison? Let us know!).

So, what IS useful is the Zircon CF12 Circuit Breaker Finder. With it, one person can determine which breaker controls a specific circuit (which you’d then label correctly and accurately, right?). You place one part in the outlet you’re keen on tracing and the other section is then used to test the circuits at the breaker. The lights on the Zircon CF12 will flash and it will give off a beep when a circuit location has been found. You can then turn off power and work with just that one specific circuit without shutting down power to other circuits and areas.

Some reviews have mentioned that this breaker finder sometimes makes two matches. While not perfect, narrowing your options down to two it certainly will still cut down on the trial and error time you’d have without it.

The Zircon CF12 Circuit Breaker Finder is available at Amazon for around $43.
