winterize_summer_toolsUnless you’re lucky enough to live in a moderate climate where your grass is green all year long, it may be time to retire your lawn mower and other gardening tools for the year.

You may be tempted to throw everything in your shed, brushing your hands of summer and fall chores in one loud swoop – but come next spring, you might regret that decision. Instead, take a bit of time to winterize your garden and landscaping equipment with these tips: [click to continue…]

lawn_stryperI almost didn’t bother to write about the Lawn Stryper because I hate its name. I’m simply not a fan of replacing “i’s” with “y’s” when it’s completely unnecessary to do so. It’s such a pet peeve of mine that despite everything in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure that is eye roll-worthy, the thing I find most obnoxious about the film is that they named their band “WYLD STALLYNS.” That is how much I loathe the unnecessary “y.”

This also means no fumes – just the sweet, sweet smell of freshly cut grass, and possibly body odor. Are you one of those crazies who like to dive into lawn care really early in the morning or late at night? Providing you’re pushing a well-oiled machine (literally), this lawn mower won’t make a sound. You can get your mow on at 2am without the neighbors freaking out on you. It’s super compact, the Scotts Classic Push Mower can be kept in a shed or storage closet without taking up a lot of real estate, giving you that much more room to store all that other crap you keep in there. At 20” wide, the coverage is pretty decent and you can make short work of this chore. The blades can be adjusted so that you can choose among nine different grass heights should you be OCD about that kind of thing. One thing to note about this tool [click to continue…]
